RISK DISCLOSURE
We ask you to carefully read the following Risk Disclosure Statement before booking.
If you have any questions regarding the risk disclosure written here please contact us for further information.
Our focus is on your safety and actively managing the risks - but we cannot anticipate or eliminate all risks.
It is important you understand that as a participant you have joint responsibility in managing safety by firstly acknowledging that there are risks, and secondly that you acknowledge the importance of understanding and following all safety information and instructions.
Our guides will identify, assess, eliminate, or minimise risks involved, so far as reasonably practicable, and you (the client) will follow the guide’s instructions at all times and understand that this is critical to your safety and that of the group.
I am aware that the activities I am participating in involve many risks, dangers and hazards which may include but are not limited to:
Weather Conditions: The unpredictable nature of New Zealand weather means changes can occur rapidly, affecting visibility, terrain conditions, and aviation safety. Our guides constantly monitor weather patterns to make informed decisions regarding your safety.
Alpine Terrain: The terrain in the New Zealand natural environments includes, but not limited to, things such as falling rocks, cliffs, ice cliffs, crevasses, avalanches, steep slopes, loose rocks, and icy surfaces. It is crucial to follow your guides’ instructions, use proper equipment, and maintain focus to avoid potential falls or slips that may lead to serious or fatal injuries.
Avalanches: Adventure On activities may take place in remote locations where there is a risk on uncontrolled natural snow surfaces. Although our guides, (or partner operators) assess avalanche risk and thoroughly plan each day’s activity, there is still an inherent danger. Our guides (or partner operators) are trained in avalanche safety and will take every precaution to minimise risks and provide guidance to clients. Avalanches can cause severe injuries, burials, or fatalities.
Physical and Medical Fitness: It is crucial to inform your guide of any existing medical conditions that may affect your participation by accurately completing the medical disclosure and advising ADVENTURE ON NZ LTD of any changes that may occur prior to departure.
Piloting and Helicopter Safety: ADVENTURE ON NZ LTD sometimes uses aviation operators to conduct activities. Our partner operators are compliant with NZ CAA rules and pilots are experienced in mountain flying. However, flying in mountainous terrain adds risks due to unique weather patterns. Aircraft are regularly inspected and maintained to Civil Aviation Authority standards.
Emergency Situations: While every precaution is taken to ensure safety, unavoidable emergencies can arise. In such instances, our guides are trained to handle emergencies and will provide prompt medical attention or evacuation, prioritizing your well-being. However, escaping the remote environment or communicating with external emergency support may be delayed.
Natural Disasters: New Zealand sits on multiple Fault Lines. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, Tsunamis and Volcanic Eruptions can occur without warning.
Activities include, but are not limited to: hiking over rocky and mountainous terrain; participating in adventure activities of an extreme nature that are inherently risky such as White Water Rafting, participating in sports including, but not limited to: water, aviation, mountain biking, heli-sking, mountaineering, alpine hiking, rock climbing and other adventure sports; being exposure to the COVID-19 virus; motor vehicle use including transfers with a risk of collisions and accidents; travel to remote areas without the possibility of immediate evacuation or availability of medical supplies or facilities; changing weather conditions; interactions or encounters with wildlife; equipment malfunctions; becoming lost or separated from guides or other participants.
I confirm I am aware that such risks may result in personal injury and even death and/or damage to property and other losses.
I confirm I am aware of the risks, dangers, and hazards associated with the activities.Drugs, alcohol and smoking devices
I agree that I cannot be under the influence of intoxicating alcohol or drugs or medication which may in any way impair my ability to undertake the activity.
I agree to not bring any smoking devices including but not limited to cigarettes, vapes and lighters.
